After listening to an engaging forum this evening discussing Maasai culture, conservation and tourism…. it is safe to say it takes a village to address the complexities that were the topic of conversation in the discussion. The Voice of Maasai album is one small piece to addressing the “human” side to conservation (i.e. education). I truly believe that locally-based strategies alongside complimenting talents and skills can help shift momentum in optimistic directions. The trick is how to sew it together – and that is what brings me to NYC as I listen to Edward Norton and Samson Parashina speak on behalf of the Maasai Wilderness Conservation Trust – we’ll see if I can find the next few puzzle pieces in helping to make this all reach potential.
